SHOCK! HORROR! YES, it's fast approaching that time of the year again - 'PANTOMIME TIME'. This year, as many of you will already know, we are staging FRANKENSTEIN THE PANTO. Now don't fall off your seats in fright, let me put your minds at ease! Heidi is an orphan who lives with a greedy innkeeper and his bossy wife, who treats her like a slave. Luckily, she's got the audience and other friends; her faithful dog, Kodak, her best friend Frankie Stein, and the handsome Prince Ludwig. The only real horrors are a party of rowdy schoolgirls under the supervision of Miss Nelly, famed pedagogue and pantomime Dame. So come along and see a pantomime with a difference, but which still retains all the old traditional values. I personally promise you a great show!

Chairman's Report on

Frankenstein the Panto

Fiona McNally realised that Frankenstein the Panto had been a bit of a gamble but it did pay off. The Monday matinee was a great success, with three quarters of the house full. Tuesday and Wednesday were a little quiet but the rest of the week was very busy. Everyone who came to see the panto raved about it and the Croydon Advertiser gave us all a super review. It was all a great success and thanks must go to James Peacock for directing it so well, especially as it is his first experience in directing a pantomime, but not his last; he will be directing the next pantomime.

Grateful thanks must go to Cynthia Young, Frank Boonham and David Martin for stepping into stage management, everybody else who helped put the show on the road and the committee who were a great support.

The Masked Ball in June last year was a great success, raising £1300 to replenish the pantomime coffers. This year there will be a FORCES BALL (see left) with uniform for the gentlemen and 1940's dress for the ladies. It will be held in the Village Hall on Saturday 28th May 1994, 4 days before the 50th Anniversary of D-Day. Please do make a note in your diaries and then ring Fiona McNally for tickets as she expects them to sell quickly. Further dates for diaries are Sundays 26th June and 3rd July when auditions for the next pantomime will take place in the Village Hall between 2pm and 4pm. The next pantomime will run from 2nd to 7th January 1995. The final decision as to which pantomime will be performed will be made very shortly.

Hamptons were pleased to sponsor the pantomime last year and we believe they will again be sponsors this year, which is great news.

In conclusion, Fiona found last year very hectic, especially with her move just prior to Christmas and the stress of the pantomime run just two weeks later. Hopefully next time it will be smoother, although it had been great fun with a good team which will hopefully continue this year.
