entertaining Woldingham for
Woldingham village pantomime

1992 Report from the programme -
THE HISTORY OF WOLDINGHAM PANTO
We have the W.I., the Woldingham Players and the Youth
Club of the '50s to thank for the existence of a pantomime in Woldingham.
Up until 1969 the Parish Room was the venue for this annual event, but when this was replaced by the splendid Village Hall, the Woldingham Pantomime Group came into being, and ' 'Aladdin'' was its first presentation. Now here we are 23 years later with an ambitious, flying "Peter Pan". None of the present committee can emulate the example set by one early pioneer who is reported to have written the village panto, produced it, costumed it, made props for it and also played the Dame, but we each have a role to play and a quick glance through the programme will show you just how many of the Woldingham community become involved.
Preparations for ' 'Peter Pan'' began after the March A.G.M. when Peter Lavin was elected Director, Marjorie Barratt M.D. and Cynthia Coatts Choreographer, and scripts were obtained for the backstage team and Wardrobe Mistress. In June a production meeting was held, and in July came the auditions. The Wardrobe Mistress had already booked the crocodile and dog early in May and her team were soon submerged under mounds of material from which the colourful costumes have eventually surfaced. Whilst most of us were on holiday, Marjorie Barratt was locating the music and Cynthia Young designing the sets. Printed publicity came next with the title design by Krystyna Kozminski, and by Sunday 29 September the full cast was assembled for the first of many rehearsals.
We hope you will enjoy the final result of all this team effort, and — who knows
