Del Harman

It's with great sadness that we note the sad passing of Del Harman on the 30th August, 2006. Del was much loved and respected by all members of the pantomime past and present, having directed many popular productions with great passion and enjoyment. He was able to draw together members old

and young (and all in between) to perform in shows that were always very popular in the village, and the atmosphere he generated was always friendly and fun. As well as working on our pantos, Del also worked hard for the village with other theatrical celebrations including the memorable Millennium Show in 2000, as well as directing many productions in neighbouring towns and villages. He was very much a part in many people's lives.

He had been battling against leukaemia for a long time but did not let this prevent him from keeping busy recently putting on great shows such as 'South Pacific' for Epsom Lights, 'Crazy for You' for Banstead & Nork, and 'Dick Whittington' for the Panto, amongst others. His productions were always of the highest quality and he was much sought after as a director. He will be greatly missed by all, especially his family who were ever an active part of his theatrical endeavours, and they especially remain in our hearts.

On the 8th September a private cremation was followed by a service of thanksgiving at St Peter's and St Paul's Church, Edenbridge. It was attended by many friends from the Woldingham Pantomime and Players, as well as other operatic societies with whom he was involved, and he would have appreciated the fine singing "raising the roof" as a tribute to everything he has given them over the years. At Del's request, there was a party afterwards at his and Helen's home.

Helen is collecting for MDS Leukaemia Research at King's College Hospital to purchase a piece of equipment which will bear a plaque in his memory. If you would like to contribute, you can do so by sending a cheque made payable to Helen Harman by the 30th September at 20 Grosvenor Avenue, Wallington, Surrey, SM6 0EF.
